As a church we believe that serving others is our gift to give. Whether in our church, in our community, or in the world we strive to serve others bringing the light of Jesus and hope to those we meet. There are many ways every person can serve, let us help you find a way to share your gift.
In Our Church
It takes an army of volunteers every week to have Sunday services go smoothly. From serving in the nursery, the kids ministry, student ministry, as a trail guide, a greeter, a parker, or at the Welcome Center, we have plenty of places that need your help.
In Our Community
Our goal is to share the love of Jesus by meeting needs and building relationships. For each of these serving opportunities there are many tasks, times, and ways to help prepare and volunteer.
Burke United Christian Ministries
The first Tuesday of every month from 8:30am-1:00pm we serve in the Soup Kitchen at BUCM by prepping, preparing, and serving the food.
Wednesdays from 6:00pm-7:30pm we provide homework assistance, games, activities, and dinner to serve the kids and their families at the Andrade Center in the Providence Place Apartment Complex.
Mondays from 5:30pm-6:45pm we provide a meal, clothing, and groceries for the homeless and impoverished in our area.
We partner with the City of Morganton during Halloween at Spooktacular on the Courthouse Square and with the Easter Egg Hunt at the Catawba Meadows Soccer Complex.
Hope for Guatemala
Hope for Guatemala is a ministry in Zone 18 within Guatemala City. Out of all the Zones in the city, Zone 18 has the highest population, highest crime rate, highest gang activity and the highest poverty. Our partner ministry seeks to eliminate poverty one child at a time by feeding them physically, emotionally, spiritually and intellectually. There is a saying there in the ministry that says, “Soy parte del cambio” which means “I am part of the change.” Through our partnership we are definitely part of the change happening there in Zone 18. During the summer months we offer one week and two weeks experiences where you can go with us to participate in the change. -Pastor Mike
